Claudia Meynell
An accomplished artist who over the last 20 years has worked using a variety of media to produce highly sought-after works, Claudia Meynell is primarily known for her ranges of beautiful hand-painted ceramics. She is also renowned for her stunning mosaics which are commissioned on a regular basis. More recently Claudia has been developing new pieces using innovative processes, working in both 2D and 3D.
These pages are devoted to a series of prints created using an exciting, self-devised technique she has named Cynk-tone, which uniquely combines the old with the new: through marrying the latest advancements in technology with the age-old fundamental principles of physics and chemistry, the images produced are truly awe-inspiring.
The success of each Cynk-tone lends itself to Claudia's natural artistic talent and love of colour. By allowing fluid movement to influence the separation of colour pigments, each Cynk-tone records a split-second of time; a split-second which is then lost for ever.
For Claudia, Cynk-tones have proved to be a path of discovery. Through her work she feels that she has gained a greater understanding of the evolutionary process; how the constant movement of molecules has resulted in the life we know and live each day, and how nature and nurture work together to create the fantastic variations that exist in the world around us.
Claudia considers the key to the technique's success is its accessibility. Though some of her audience may 'see' specific objects within a Cynk-tone, any pictorial resemblance is unintentional. Her aim is to release her viewers' imagination and for them to let it run free. Indeed, since the conception of this technique, she has been astounded by the feelings and emotions each work evokes within its viewers.
